CAT Full Form

The full form of CAT is Common Admission Test. It is a computer based exam. Every year lakhs of students appear in this examination. This exam is conducted by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM). Through CAT, students study business administration program and make their career in this field. There is no upper age limit for this exam.

You will be surprised to know because experts say that if the student prepares keeping the goal in front, then only 6 months is enough time to prepare for this exam. To score good marks in this exam, it is necessary for the students to score sufficient marks. You should prepare well for your selection. Eligibility for CAT Entrance Exam

All those students who have passed in graduation with 50% marks can participate in this entrance exam. Interested candidate should have a bachelor's degree with minimum 50% marks. In case of SC and ST, minimum 45% marks is sufficient. However, this qualification may vary from institute to institute and course to course as follows in certain courses governed by the eligibility criteria of IIMs.

What is the number of CAT exam?

CAT is a computer-based exam. You are asked 100 questions in this exam. The questions in this exam are of objective type. 4 marks are given for a question and you are given 3 hours to solve all these questions. In this exam all questions are asked in MCQ pattern. You should answer the question which you have complete knowledge about because for answering 4 questions wrongly one mark is deducted. In this exam questions are asked from the following three parts.


  • Quantitative Aptitude - 28 Number
  • Verbal and Reading Comprehension - 44 Number
  • Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning - 28 Number

There are 34 questions in Quantitative Aptitude while there are 34 questions in Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehensive also. While there are 32 questions in Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation, all these sections have their own separate cut off which is mandatory to clear.
